The renowned designer teams up with the Verma Foundation to showcase resilience and style, featuring cancer survivors on the runway in support of a worthy cause.
On Tuesday night, the vibrant atmosphere of New York City will host a special charity fashion show sponsored by iconic designer Nicole Miller in support of the Verma Foundation’s “Capwalk” event. The Verma Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Natasha Verma, a Fox 5 NY news anchor and cancer survivor, aims to provide free real hair cap wigs to cancer patients, helping to restore their confidence during challenging times.
In an exclusive interview with WWD ahead of the event, Miller expressed her enthusiasm for the cause, noting her history of dressing Verma on several occasions. Her connection with the foundation has led her to become the exclusive fashion and apparel sponsor for this impactful show, highlighting the power of fashion in fostering community and support.
The Capwalk fashion show promises to be an inspiring spectacle, featuring both former and current cancer patients as they grace the runway, escorted by Fox 5 NY personalities, local celebrities, and athletes, including New York Jets’ Solomon Thomas. Each participant will don carefully curated looks from Miller’s collection, complemented by the foundation’s custom cap wigs, ensuring that the show celebrates both style and strength.
Miller’s collection for the show will showcase a blend of archival pieces and fresh designs. Attendees can look forward to a variety of her iconic styles, including cheeky men’s conversational ties and button-down shirts reminiscent of the ‘90s, alongside embellished dresses and gowns from her Spring 2024 Signature line. The lineup also features head-to-toe looks spanning from her Fall 2014 collection to a festive romper from Holiday 2016, culminating in an emerald feathered gown that promises to captivate the audience.
In addition to the runway show, the event will include a lounge-style reception and cocktail party, allowing guests to mingle in a relaxed atmosphere. A silent auction and premiere raffle will also take place, with proceeds benefiting the Verma Foundation and its mission to support cancer patients.
This charitable evening not only showcases the artistry of fashion but also reinforces the significance of community support in the fight against cancer. Through initiatives like the Capwalk fashion show, the Verma Foundation and Nicole Miller are working together to uplift those affected by cancer, proving that style and compassion can walk hand in hand.
