Sabato De Sarno blends casual elegance with jet-set allure, drawing inspiration from golden sunsets and Gucci’s timeless heritage.
Gucci’s creative director, Sabato De Sarno, is extending the spirit of summer into spring 2025 with a collection that exudes “casual grandeur.” Presented at Milan’s Triennale Museum, the runway show evoked the fading warmth of an August sunset, a motif that guided the designs. Guests, including Dakota Johnson, Debbie Harry, Julia Garner, and Lucky Blue Smith, were treated to a spectacle set against the backdrop of sunset-hued lighting.
De Sarno’s collection spoke to a jet-set lifestyle—nonchalantly glamorous yet wearable. Signature pieces ranged from low-slung trousers paired with effortlessly chic tanks to draped cutout jersey gowns and sheer lace ensembles. Tailoring and lingerie played central roles, emphasizing a balance between structure and sensuality. The incorporation of baggy jeans and floor-grazing trench coats captured the essence of his “casual grandeur” vision.
Pops of color in chartreuse and deep red, dubbed Gucci Rosso Ancora, added vibrancy to the lineup, which also leaned into vacation-ready accessories like oversized sun hats and Gucci Flora headscarves. De Sarno’s mastery in blending modernity with heritage was evident in the reimagined Bamboo bag and Horsebit motif, as well as the introduction of the new Gucci Go bag. The sculptural Bamboo-inspired bracelets and tubular chokers added a contemporary twist to the house’s iconic elements.
Incorporating elements of 1960s style, De Sarno seamlessly merged past and present, inviting fashion lovers to seize the day with confidence and chic nonchalance. From twinkling Gatsby-style dresses to glittering fringed coats with matching bags, this collection carried a sense of effortless elegance, perfect for those who appreciate the grandeur of life’s simplest moments.
