First Time in Cannes
Cannes began as a girls’ trip when I was invited to Amfar many years ago with friends who work in the film industry. Since stepping into that world, I’ve been fortunate to be booked every year to work in what I would call one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Best Movie and Fashion at Cannes
I had the honor of seeing Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga at the premiere, and it was a terrific film. I was dressed in a glamorous red dress by Liu Lisi Paris Couture and definitely had a special moment on the red carpet.

For me, fashion is freedom. The freedom to choose how to express yourself and convey your message.

Confronting Societal Issues
I am dedicated to making the world a little better, on the small and big stages. I try to light up every little conversation in my everyday life, and I work with a global NGO called WomenforWomen, whose aim is to rebuild the lives of women affected by war. (Please support them!)
Living with Rules
I have a love-hate relationship with rules. I may have spiritual “rules,” but I don’t really believe in “external” rules. I know they’re important to some people, but I’m not one of them. So my biggest rule is probably to make my own rules (only and exclusively for the good of all, of course).

The answer to everything. The source of everything.
Favorite Designer
It changes from time to time. Just as I change as a person, so does my style. In general, I admire every creative. I used to like the classy ones the most; now I like the bold ones a little more.
Favorite Holiday Destination
Sylt, the home of my family. A northern German island (yes, there are islands in Germany).
Best Restaurant in Cannes
La Guérite. So many great memories. Such an experience. I adore this place.
